Schleswig Viking Days
Known locally as Wikingertage Schleswig
About
One of Europe's largest Viking-age living-history events, held annually in the town of Schleswig on the Schlei fjord since 1986, within sight of the Hedeby (Haithabu) UNESCO World Heritage archaeological site. Around 500 costumed reenactors from Germany and Scandinavia populate a large Viking village with combat and archery demonstrations, fire shows, longship displays and craft trading; a shuttle boat connects the festival grounds to the Wikinger Museum Haithabu across the water.
