About The Muster

The Muster is a directory of historical reenactment events worldwide — currently 173 events across 18 countries, from Viking festivals and medieval jousts to Napoleonic bivouacs, samurai musters and the commemorations of both world wars, alongside the airshows where the same history takes to the air.

What makes it different

Event dates are slippery: organisers announce late, patterns shift, and most listings sites quietly present guesses as facts. We don’t. Every date on The Muster is marked as either verified — confirmed against the organiser or an official source — or clearly flagged as expected and unconfirmed. Where an event runs to a rule (“always week 32”, “the first Sunday of September”) we tell you the rule, so you can plan a year ahead even before dates are announced.

Some events, particularly WWI tactical weekends, are closed to spectators. Where we know that, it is flagged prominently — a directory that sends a family to a private event has failed them.
