Villena Moors and Christians Festival

One of the largest Moros y Cristianos festivals in Spain, drawing an estimated 12,000 participants in Villena (Alicante) each September. Costumed companies of Moors and Christians parade nightly through the town, re-enacting the region's Reconquista-era conflicts with staged confrontations and gunpowder volleys, and the town has applied for International Tourist Interest status to match its neighbour Alcoy's.

Villena's own railway station (Media Distancia and Larga Distancia services to Alicante, Valencia, Murcia, Madrid and beyond) sits on Ronda de la Estación on the western edge of the town, an easy walk from the historic centre where the parades run; the separate Villena AV high-speed station is 6km outside town with no public transport connection, so it is not the practical option for visitors. The main events are free to watch from the street; the Junta Central de Fiestas sells reserved grandstand seating for the Entrada and other set-piece parades, but no 2026 seating prices were found published on the organiser's own pages this run.
