About
Each July, Vannes' walled old town in Brittany becomes a medieval stage for two days: a costumed village of period trades (blacksmiths, coin-minters) fills the Jardin des Remparts, jousting and puppet shows run through the afternoon, costumed processions cross the city at dusk, and the weekend closes with a fire-and-fireworks spectacle set to period music. Run by the city of Vannes, the festival has been a fixture since the 1980s (a 2013 edition was already the 28th).
