When it is held

Held every two years.

About

Every two years the grounds of the LWL-Römermuseum in Haltern - Roman Aliso, once a principal legionary base on the Lippe - become a living camp again for the Römertage 'Brot und Spiele'. Legionaries pitch their tents and drill in full armour while bakers, potters, smiths and slingers work around them and Germanic warriors face the men of Rome. The 2026 edition stages an elaborately costumed pompa - the ceremonial arrival of Agrippina the Elder at Aliso, escorted by Germanicus and Tiberius - with cavalry games celebrating the birthday of Augustus. The previous games drew over 11,000 visitors.
