Aalen Roman Days
Known locally as XIV. Römertage Aalen
The last edition has finished and the organiser has not yet published dates for the next one. Going by previous years, expect it around late September 2027 — but that is our projection, not an announcement, and nothing is settled until the organiser publishes the dates. Please confirm with the organiser before you travel.
About
The Römertage (Roman Days) turn the Limesmuseum and its adjoining fort grounds in Aalen — built on the site of the largest Roman cavalry fort north of the Alps — into a two-day Roman living-history camp. Legionaries, auxiliary troops and craftspeople in reconstructed kit demonstrate drill, cooking and everyday military life along the Limes, the fortified Rhine–Danube frontier that is itself a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Programme
The programme for the next edition hasn’t been published yet. It goes up here as soon as the organiser releases it.
Getting there
Limesmuseum, St.-Johann-Straße 5, 73430 Aalen. Aalen's main railway station has direct trains from Stuttgart, Ulm, Donauwörth and Crailsheim; it's about a 16-minute walk to the museum via Curfeßstraße, or bus lines 32/33 to the "Stadthalle/Limesmuseum" stop, about 2 minutes' walk from there. The museum has no dedicated visitor car park, but free 3-hour parking (with disabled and EV-charging bays) is available across the street at Berliner Platz. Standard museum admission is EUR6 adult / EUR13.50 family, Tuesday–Sunday 10:00–17:00; the organiser had not published a separate festival-day price or hours at time of writing.
