About
Midway Village Museum's 148-acre campus in Rockford, Illinois becomes a WW2-era European village each September for what its organisers bill as the largest World War II re-enactment in the Midwest. Around 600 uniformed reenactors from nine nations recreate narrated battles with period armour and pyrotechnics, alongside a Holocaust-history education programme, 1940s music and a dedicated school day the Friday before the public weekend.

Getting there
Midway Village Museum, 6799 Guilford Road, Rockford, Illinois. Parking is free, next to the Main Museum Center. Admission: adults USD21 (USD11 for museum members), seniors USD18, veterans and active-duty military USD15, children 5-12 USD15 (USD9 members); WW2 veterans and children under 5 are free. A 'Woods Skirmish' add-on activity is USD5. No advance tickets required. Open Saturday 26 September 10:00-17:00 and Sunday 27 September 09:00-15:00.
