Annual city-wide commemoration in Groningen of the lifting, on 28 August 1672, of the siege by Prince-Bishop Christoph Bernhard von Galen of Münster ('Bommen Berend'); costumed reenactors playing 1672 soldiers, burghers and craftspeople populate the city centre alongside civic traditions such as horse inspections, a communal meal and fireworks.
