About

Living historians camp on the ground where the Battle of Perryville was fought on 8 October 1862, the largest and bloodiest Civil War engagement in Kentucky and the end of the Confederate bid for the state. The day runs rifle and cannon demonstrations and interpretations of soldier life in 1862, with a memorial service at noon for the fallen. The battlefield is among the least altered in the United States, its vistas close to what the soldiers saw, and the site now covers some 745 acres with nineteen miles of trails and forty-seven interpretive markers.
