Held every four years.

About

The Landshuter Hochzeit restages the 1475 wedding of Duke Georg "the Rich" of Bavaria-Landshut to the Polish princess Hedwig Jagiellon, an alliance marriage the organisers call the last Adelsfest — noble festival — of European scale in the late Middle Ages. Around 2,500 costumed participants fill Landshut's Gothic old town for the better part of four weeks with jousting tournaments, processions and markets, staged with enough attention to textiles, weapons and hairstyles that organisers say the scenes could be lifted from a medieval altarpiece. Held regularly since 1903, it is now one of the largest historical festivals in Europe.

Getting there

Landshut's own Hauptbahnhof is the city's mainline station; the city government adds extra Park+Ride capacity and bicycle parking around the old town for the festival weekends. Ticket presale for the 2027 run opens in October 2026, with general sale from early January 2027 — the organiser had not published gate times or prices at time of writing, and the "secure tickets" button on its own site currently points to a platform still labelled as a test/staging link, so no ticket URL is included here.
