Getting there

The events are spread across the villages of Cospeda, Lützeroda, Closewitz and Vierzehnheiligen, where the bivouac stands. Several roads are closed. On Saturday 17 October Cospeda is shut to traffic all day, the through road in Lützeroda is closed for the market, and there is no access from Jena via the Rautal. On Sunday 18 October the through road in Vierzehnheiligen is closed during the memorial ceremony. Local public transport (ÖPNV Jena) is expected to serve the villages, but this is not yet confirmed, and on Saturday only Cospeda can be reached by it. Check timetables at nahverkehr-jena.de. Signposted car parks are provided at Lützeroda (about 2,000 spaces) and Closewitz (about 200 spaces), and from Vierzehnheiligen it is roughly a 30-minute walk to the battlefield. The battle reenactment on Saturday 17 October, from 14:30, is ticketed at EUR10 full price and EUR7 reduced (ages 12 to 18, severely disabled visitors and their companions). Children up to and including 11 enter free. Tickets are sold online through Eventim, at pre-sale outlets, at Tourist-Information Jena, and at five cash-only day boxes around the battlefield. The Saturday food service in Cospeda (10:00–17:00) and the farmers' and craft market in Lützeroda (10:00–17:30) also charge admission, but no price is published.
