EXPECTED LATE SEPTEMBER 2027DATES NOT YET CONFIRMED
Last held 26 September 2026
🇧🇪 Brussels, Belgium
Dates not yet confirmed

The last edition has finished and the organiser has not yet published dates for the next one. Going by previous years, expect it around late September 2027 — but that is our projection, not an announcement, and nothing is settled until the organiser publishes the dates. Check with the organiser before you travel: probelgica.be.

About

Each September the City of Brussels and the heritage association Pro Belgica hold a solemn commemoration at the Place des Martyrs / Martelaarsplein for the volunteers who died defending the city during the September Days of 1830, the street fighting that decided the Belgian Revolution. The ceremony brings flag-bearers from patriotic associations and reenactors dressed as the 'Volunteers of Brussels 1830' alongside wreath-laying at the martyrs' monument, the national anthem and a rifle-fire salute.

Programme

The programme for the next edition hasn’t been published yet. It goes up here as soon as the organiser releases it.

Getting there

Free and open to the public. The procession assembles at the Congress Column, near Madou metro station, before the ceremony itself at Place des Martyrs. The nearest metro stations are De Brouckère (lines 1 and 5) and Rogier (lines 2 and 6). No road-closure information is published by the organiser.
