Braine-le-Château Medieval Festival

Each September the historic centre of Braine-le-Château, in Walloon Brabant, is transformed into a medieval town for a three-day festival now in its 28th edition, drawing knights, minstrels, merchants and acrobats alongside a reconstructed medieval encampment; past editions have drawn crowds of nearly 25,000 across the weekend.

The medieval town centre around the Grand-Place transforms for the weekend; the commune's own culture office (+32 2 355 73 75, culture@braine-le-chateau.be) organises the festival. Braine-le-Château's own railway station closed to passenger trains in 1959, so the nearest active station is at Tubize, a few kilometres away, with onward bus and taxi links into town — arriving by car or bike is more practical for most visitors. The organiser's own practical-info page lists supervised paid parking on Rue Minon (EUR5/space), accessible (PMR) parking on Rue de la Libération, Rue de Tubize and Rue de la Station, bike parking with lock points at the Porte du Hainaut and Porte de Mansinpont town gates, and a carpooling meeting point at the Haut-Ittre exit of Brussels' Ring 0. Admission price and daily opening hours had not been published by the organiser as of this run.
