Battle of Jičín 1866 Anniversary
Known locally as Výročí bitvy u Jičína 1866
The last edition has finished and the organiser has not yet published dates for the next one. Going by previous years, expect it around mid September 2027 — but that is our projection, not an announcement, and nothing is settled until the organiser publishes the dates. Check with the organiser before you travel: 1866.cz.
About
A one-day commemoration of the Battle of Jičín (29 June 1866, also called the Battle of Gitschin), an Austro-Prussian War engagement fought around the town and the nearby Prachov rock formations. The 2026 (160th anniversary) programme, organised by the Komitét 1866 federation together with the Český ráj regional museum and reenactment group KVH Jičín, includes a battle demonstration at the Prachov pass, a reenactor march retracing the original troop movement into Jičín, army encampment displays in the castle park, and a closing battle demonstration on the town's main square.

Programme
The programme for the next edition hasn’t been published yet. It goes up here as soon as the organiser releases it.
Getting there
The 160th-anniversary programme runs across two connected sites: a memorial ceremony and battle demonstration on the Prachov ridge outside town from 11:00, followed by a reenactors' march into Jičín from 13:00 (with further memorial ceremonies along the way), unit displays in the castle park from 16:00, and a closing battle demonstration on Valdštejnovo náměstí (the main square) at 18:45. The organiser (Komitét 1866) has not published an admission price or any parking/transport arrangements for this one-day commemoration; Jičín has its own railway station.
