Battle of Austerlitz Anniversary

🇨🇿 Slavkov u Brna, Czechia · ⚑ ≈1,000 reenactors

About

Each November, Slavkov u Brna and the fields around Tvarozna and the Santon hill host a multi-day commemoration of the 1805 Battle of the Three Emperors, fought here between Napoleon's army and the combined Austrian and Russian forces. The 2026 edition opens with a torchlit skirmish and parade at nearby Kucerov, moves through dawn musters of the French and Coalition camps, and culminates on the Saturday afternoon with uniformed infantry, cavalry and artillery restaging the battle across the historic ground. The weekend closes with a memorial ceremony at the Peace Monument (Mohyla miru) on the Sunday. It is one of continental Europe's largest Napoleonic reenactments, run by the Austerlitz project together with the town of Slavkov u Brna.

Getting there

Slavkov u Brna has its own railway station and is the nearest town with rail access, about 20km from Brno; the battlefield itself lies further out near Tvarozna and the Santon hill. In past years the regional transport authority (IDS JMK) has run dedicated shuttle buses out to the battlefield from both Brno and Slavkov u Brna on reenactment day - check idsjmk.cz nearer the date for the confirmed 2026 timetable and fare. Entry to Saturday's battle reenactment is free; grandstand ('tribuna') seating is sold separately via Ticketsteam, price not yet published on the organiser's site. Expect road restrictions around the battlefield on the Saturday.
