The Alamo — Commemoration (191st anniversary)

For thirteen days the Alamo marks the 1836 siege day by day, matching the calendar of the original investment from 23 February to the fall of the mission on 6 March. More than thirty events run across the fortnight, most of them free, among them a recreation of the Mexican army's arrival, a reenactment of Travis writing the Victory or Death letter and its departure by courier, the arrival of the Immortal 32 from Gonzales, Texas Independence Day on 2 March and the Crockett Fiddle Fest. The commemoration closes with Dawn at the Alamo, a sunrise ceremony in Alamo Plaza held with the San Antonio Living History Association, with readings, music, a wreath-laying and a musket volley before hundreds of spectators.
