Misawa Air Base Air Festival
Known locally as 令和8年度三沢基地航空祭 (Misawa Air Base Air Festival)
The last edition has finished and the organiser has not yet published dates for the next one. Going by previous years, expect it around mid September 2027 — but that is our projection, not an announcement, and nothing is settled until the organiser publishes the dates. Check with the organiser before you travel: mod.go.jp.
About
Misawa in Aomori prefecture is the only air base in Japan shared by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, the United States Air Force and the United States Navy, and its air festival reflects that: Japanese F-35A and American F-16 units fly from the same ramp, and the ground displays mix both air forces' aircraft. The joint character makes it one of the more internationally interesting Japanese open days for a visiting enthusiast.
Programme
The programme for the next edition hasn’t been published yet. It goes up here as soon as the organiser releases it.
