Komatsu Air Base Air Festival
Known locally as 令和8年度小松基地航空祭 (Komatsu Air Base Air Festival)
The last edition has finished and the organiser has not yet published dates for the next one. Going by previous years, expect it around late September 2027 — but that is our projection, not an announcement, and nothing is settled until the organiser publishes the dates. Check with the organiser before you travel: mod.go.jp.
About
Komatsu on the Sea of Japan coast in Ishikawa prefecture is home to two F-15 squadrons and is regarded by Japanese enthusiasts as one of the best flying displays of the air festival season, with tactical formations launched over the sea. The 2026 edition includes a Blue Impulse display. The base shares its runway with Komatsu Airport, which makes it one of the more straightforward JASDF open days to reach from outside the region.
Programme
The programme for the next edition hasn’t been published yet. It goes up here as soon as the organiser releases it.
Getting there
Entry is free, per the City of Komatsu's own tourism site. Gates and the flying display run 08:30-15:00 on 27 September, rain or shine, per the JASDF's own event page. On-base parking is limited; the base directs visitors toward public transport, with paid shuttle buses running from JR Komatsu Station, Science Hills and temporary car parks (the Tekko Danchi industrial-park lots and the Ataka Shinmachi lot) from around 05:00, plus free connecting shuttles between some temporary lots and the gate. Hand-luggage inspection applies on entry.
