About

Established in 1964 as an indirect successor to the National Air Races, the Cleveland National Air Show runs over the Labor Day weekend at Burke Lakefront Airport on the shore of Lake Erie, immediately beside downtown Cleveland. It is one of the oldest annual air shows in the United States and alternates the Blue Angels and the Air Force Thunderbirds as its headline act from year to year, with warbirds, aerobatic solos and a NASA Glenn Research Center exhibit filling the rest of a programme that typically runs from nine in the morning until late afternoon.

Getting there

The show flies from Burke Lakefront Airport on Cleveland's downtown lakefront. Gates open at 9:00am and close to re-entry at 2:30pm, with flying from roughly 10:00am to 4:00pm each day. Parking is a paid, advance-purchase-only grass lot on North Marginal Road (no gate sales, no RV or trailer parking), which closes to incoming traffic at 2:00pm or once full; RTA's Waterfront Line and park-and-ride service are the transit alternative into downtown. Tickets are sold online in advance only, with no gate sales: reserved box seats are $50 (plus fees) each, with a $20 day-of upgrade; general-admission pricing was not published on the organiser's own site at time of writing.
